CAVENDISH SQUARE LITERACY BOOK SALE RAISES CLOSE TO R70 000 FOR CHARITY

R68 557 was raised at the Cavendish Square Children’s Literacy Book Sale hosted at the centre last week.

Bookworms descended en-masse at Cavendish Square for the inaugural Cavendish Square Literacy Book Sale, which was themed around National Children’s Day. Celebrities including Heart 104.9FM presenter – Saskia Falken, E-TV weatherman – Derek van Dam, SAFM presenter – Nancy Richards and former Miss Universe – Michelle McLean gave up their time to read stories to children from some of Exclusive Books’ bestselling books.

All the funds raised from the sale of books at the first Literacy Books Sale will go to NGO, Wola Nani’s programmes for orphans and vulnerable children.

Said Brenda Bibby – Cavendish Square Centre Manager, “We are thrilled that our customers showed their support for raising awareness about the importance of literacy. We are looking forward to hosting the next book sale to commemorate World Aids Day on 1 December.”

Added Bibby, “We must commend the team from Well Read Books for organizing such a professional event on behalf of Cavendish Square and Wola Nani and putting together a wonderful selection of contemporary and classic children’s titles which proved incredibly popular amongst the Cavendish Square shoppers.”
