The much-anticipated Annual Cavendish Square summer sale is going to be bigger than ever, and this year will literally be LARGER THAN LIFE, thanks to the Centre’s status as Official Shopping Partner to the J&B Met.

The CAVENDISH SQUARE LARGER THAN LIFE SALE takes place from Thursday 27 to Sunday 30 January 2011. Hundreds of Cavendish Square retailers will be using the opportunity to clear their shelves in preparation for the arrival of new autumn stock. Throughout the malls, sale tables will be set up where shoppers will be able to find the best bargains in town and possibly get that J&B Met outfit for less!

CAVENDISH SQUARE TO HOST “LARGER THAN LIFE” STUDENT DESIGN COMPETITION
Win VIP tickets to the “Larger than Life” J&B Met

An exciting new event has been added to the Cavendish Square annual events calendar - THE CAVENDISH SQUARE LARGER THAN LIFE DESIGN COMPETITION AND FASHION SHOW - which takes place in the Centre Court at Cavendish Square on Saturday 22 January 2011 at 1pm. The graduate students from FEDISA have not been resting on their laurels this festive season and have been hard at work creating designer outfits in keeping with this year’s theme for the J&B Met, “Larger than Life”. The designer outfits will be showcased in a show featuring top local and international models, and will be co-ordinated and choreographed by on of South Africa’s leading fashion show producer, Karen Burt from Planet Productions.

Said Allen Leroux, CEO and Academic Director of FEDISA, “FEDISA is widely regarded, as South Africa’s premier fashion institution and offers a 3-year BA degree in Fashion Design and will also shortly introduce a BA Honours Degree in Fashion . When Cavendish Square approached us about putting something together to showcase our students talents, we jumped at the opportunity. We are always looking to expose our students to “real world” experiences, which will help them grow and develop. Students who participated in this showcase will also be assessed by the institute on their work, and the marks will go towards their annual assignment totals.”

The competition will be judged by a panel of celebrity judges, including Charl Reineke – Manager of Cape Times Fashion Forum, local couture designer - Paul van Zyl, Cavendish Square Marketing Manager – Madrie Verwey, and J&B Met Organiser – Sue Kablin. The winner of the CAVENDISH SQUARE LARGER THAN LIFE DESIGN COMPETITION will receive a free ride to the finals of the J&B Met Most Elegant Couple Competition finals, gaining automatic entry.

In addition to the fantastical, LARGER THAN LIFE designs created by the FEDISA students, top Cavendish Square fashion retailers will be showcasing some of the hottest trends and looks for this year’s J&B Met.
